Battenburg cake
Battenburg or Battenberg cake is a light sponge cake held togather with jam and when cut in cross section displays two by two check pattern .This cake is originated in England and is very easy and delicious cake .
Ingredient....
All we need is...
- Butter -2 tbsp
- Oil - 2tbsp
- Sugar - 1/3 cup or according to the sweetness required
- Milk- 1/2-1 cup
- Vinegar - 1tsp
- Vanilla essence /chocolate essence -1/2 tsp
- Maida/APF - 1cup
- Baking powder -1 tsp
- Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- Cocoa powder - 2tbsp

Add 1 tsp cooking vinegar in half cup of milk and keep aside.
In bowl take 2tbsp of butter.
Add in 2tbsp of oil.
Add half cup of condensed milk.
By using strainer sieve 1cup maida,1/3 cup sugar,1tsp baking powder,1tsp baking soda.
Now add milk and vinegar mixture and mix well. Add Vanilla essence also.
Divide the batter in to two equal portions and add 1 tbsp of cocoa powder to one part with 2tbsp of milk and mix .
With the help of cardboard (raped with alluminium foil) make the partition in the centre of cake tin.lined it with butter paper.
Fill the both halves with both cake batters.Bake the cake in preheated oven (otg) at 200c for about 25 min.
Let cake cool completely.
Grind Oreo or any chocolate biscuits in a mixing jar and gradually add in milk to make a soft dough.Keep together all the required materials to assemble the cake.
With the help of knife slice the upper part of both cake to get the uniform flat surface on cake.Lengthwise cut both the cake in to half.
Apply mixed fruit jam to one side of each cake piece.
Now assemble one white cake part with jam side to one brown cake part and opposite on the top of both parts as shown above .
With the help of plastic bag roll the biscuits dough.
Roll it to the length of cake size.
Slowly fold or rape the whole cake with dough along with plastic and set in refrigerator for 20min
Slowly remove the plastic .
Mark a lines to make a design to our cake
Decorate it with sprinkle balls or white chocolate chips.
